About Jason

My name is Jason Appleton. I am a 7ft tall, 295lb MMA Fight Promoter.

I began in the sport of MMA initially as a fighter. I began training at 305lbs and wanted to lose weight and get into shape after 7 years of working at home and rarely leaving aside from getting food at Mc Donalds or some other un healthy food joint. After some dramatic twists in my personal life I moved and started a new family. No more bachelor living, it was time to get down to business. So, I dove into the sport of MMA as an up and coming promoter.

Jean and Jason Appleton and Wife LacyOn November 18th, 2006 I promoted my first event in Covington KY where I nearly sold out a 3,000 seat venue and still lost money. Now, in 2008 I’ve recently enjoyed a sold out event at the Belterra Casino and Hotel, made a tidy profit and am taking my experience to this blog. I’ve learned a great deal in the past 2 years and hope to spare you the cost of my past mistakes.

In this blog you will find a variety of general MMA information relating to the business of promotion, as well as my daily bitching, venting, frustrations not to mention my cheers of accomplishment as I continue to develop myself as a promoter.

First and foremost I believe in honesty and integrity. I work hard and enjoy what I do. Too many promoters jump in thinking they are going to con a bunch of people out of their money in one way or another and they can easily give the business a bad name. However, thanks to promoters of that ilk, myself and the MMA Big Show can enjoy some of the top fighters from all over North America willing to travel great distances to compete for me.

The MMA Big Show is often hailed as the best MMA promotion in the region and its only getting bigger and better.

Visiting this blog often should help you accomplish your goals as a fight promoter and I encourage questions and comments as I will respond with the best advice I can provide.
